Bloody human flesh is on the menu in director Luca Guadagnino's most recent love story, which once again stars Timothée Chalamet. Yes, "Bones and All" is an incredibly moving and successful cannibal love story. Although you might snicker or grimace at the premise, it actually works in a beautiful, poetic, and alluring way.
The film, which is based on Camille DeAngelis' novel, cleverly stays away from a serial killer or criminal atmosphere by making its characters' perversion almost supernatural. We discover that their preference for Homo sapiens over cows is a genetic defect and that they hide on the periphery of society like vampires.
Following a minor mishap at a sleepover, Maren decides she can no longer control her bloodlust and flees her father's Virginia house. She encounters Sully, a spooky fellow cannibal played by Mark Rylance while waiting for a bus to Maryland. "Bones And All Flixtor" show her the ropes and informs her, "I never ever eat an eater," during their encounter. She flees from there out of fear for her life and encounters Lee at a pharmacy shortly after.
A murderer meets a cute person. He is a fellow eater, and this is the only tale in which learning that a hottie is a cannibal is not a cause for alarm. They are a sadistic couple. In part to look for Maren's long-lost mother, Lee and Maren go on a cross-country road journey, sating their appetites before moving on to the next state. Guadagnino's aesthetic prowess really shines at this point.
Similar to how fellow Italian Sergio Leone discovered new vitality in the desert mountains and sunsets of "Once Upon a Time in the West," the director portrays the heartland with fresh, admiring, youthful eyes. Minnesota has never been more amazing, including general stores, county fairs, and, well, Minnesota.
In the meantime, Chalamet, who plays a dark, rebellious waif, and Russell, who portrays a seemingly innocent but cunning survivor, cultivate a convincing, all-consuming fascination with their characters' journey, which is peppered with cunning ne'er do well. With its strange fusion of emo-kid googly eyes and campfire Americana, "Bones" is "Twilight" crossed with Mark Twain.
Both performers manage to make young killers become utterly recognizable outcasts. On the surface, they appear to be monsters who need to be demonized by society. Yet despite our love for them, we can do nothing. For these CANNIBALS, we merely want what is best. You should be aware that eating other people for brunch is depicted in graphic detail and is not avoided. Both those scenes and Rylance's appearances as Sully resemble Pennywise the Dancing Clown and have a strong sense of horror.
